Heavy Accident Toll In Lancaster County

ONE KILLED, 10 HURT WHEN CARS COLLIDE IN DOWNPOUR OF RAIN

Lancaster, Pa.— Highway accidents have taken a separate toll of life and injuries in Lancaster County so far in 1961. Fatalities have averaged over three per month.

On June20, 67-year-old Israel B. Lefever was killed and ten persons were injured when the car he was driving collided with a station wagon during a heavy rain storm.

Riding with Lefever were four Amish carpenters. Eli Beiler, Andy Beiler, and Samuel Lapp were all hospitalized with fractures or other severe injuries, while Jacob Miller was released to his home. A mother and her five children in the other car were treated for minor injuries.

Earlier a three-car crash near Ephrata claimed the life of 19-year-old Leon Eberly.
