HENRY B. FALK
Henry B. Falk, son of Bernard and Maria Falk, was born June 14, 1898 in Steinfeld, Russia. He was born into a Christian home and received early instruction as to his need of salvation. Although God worked actively in his life when he was young, he refused the Lord then, which he often regretted later.
During his service in World War I he caught typhoid fever. He promised the Lord that, should he recover, he would accept the Lord when he came home. However, this promise was soon forgotten.
In 1922 he and his friends fled from Russia to Germany. With the assistance of an uncle, he came to Canada later that year. On November 4, 1926 he married Margaret Dueck, with whom he spent 48 wonderful years.
They lived in Rosthern for seven years, and then moved to Hepburn in 1934. That year his daughter Elma passed away. He recognized this to be the voice of the Lord. For the first time in many years he began to pray earnestly , feeling that this was his last opportunity. Following a visit of two brethren from the Hepburn Mennonite Brethren Church, he accepted the Lord. In 1935 he was baptized and joined the Hepburn Church.
That year they moved to Black Creek, Vancouver Island, where he experienced much blessing in the church and began his 35 years of service as a deacon. They moved to Aldergrove, B.C. in 1942 and then to Arnold, B.C. for 24 years . Following a heart attack in 1966 he retired to Clearbrook, B.C.
The Lord called him home on October 3. He is survived by his wife Margaret; three sons and their wives: Werner and Margaret, Arnold and Lena, Ervin and Carole, all of Clearbrook; his daughters: Elsie of Jaffray, B.C., Hilda and Henry Heinrichs of Capreol, Ont., Edna and Jake Friesen of Winnipeg, Luella and John Berg of Gem, Alta.; sixteen grandchildren; one brother Ben in Russia and three other brothers in Canada; and five sisters. He was predeceased by a daughter, his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
