Herman P. Ewert, son of Heinrich D. and Helena Penner Ewert, was born south of Durham, Kansas on May 14, 1899. | |||
When he was about seven months old the parents moved to the Brudertal community, where he grew to manhood. He received his schooling first in the School dist. no. 70, and later went to the Bible Academy at Hillsboro for two years. After this he went to the Bethel Academy at North Newton for one year. | |||
On June 9, 1918, he was baptized by Rev. Wm. J. Ewert and received into the Brudertal Mennonite Church, where he remained a member until the end. | |||
His heart condition developed in the Service when he was drafted, and he had never been well since. He passed away suddenly Thursday, Jan. 16. at 5:25 p.m. | |||
He leaves to mourn his passing four sisters and four brothers: Maria, Mrs G. E. Wiens, Durham, Kansas; Emma, Mrs. Ernest Rempel, Peabody, Kansas; Helena, Mrs. P. P. Sprunger, Chicago, Ill.; Agnes, Mrs. Theof. D. Goertz, Edwardsville, Ill.; Peter, Hillsboro, Kansas; Johann, Hillsboro, Kansas; Benjamin, Marion, Kansas; and Albert, Oklahoma City, Okla. Both of his parent preceded him in death. | |||
