MRS. E. E. LEHMAN

Mrs. Caroline Welty Lehman, wife of E. E. Lehman, passed away at the family home in Fortuna, Mo. Friday, April 4, and funeral services were held from the Bethel Mennonite church, northeast of Versaillies [sic Versailles], Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. E. A. Albrecht was the officiating minister.

Caroline Welty, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Lehman Welty, was born May 3, 1873. At the age of twenty years she made her confessions of faith and was baptized into the membership of the Bethel Mennonite church, remaining a faithful member until her death.

On December 3, 1896 she was united in marriage with Edwin E. Lehman and to that union were born one daughter and five sons, namely: Mrs. Gertrude Marlin of Arbyrd, Mo., Lewis of Milo, Mo., Luther of Booker, Texas, Sam of Versallies [sic Versailles], Kieffer of Red Oak, Iowa, and Dana of Atlanta [sic Atlantic], Iowa.

They spent the greater part of their married life on a farm in Morgan county. They retired from the farm and went to Milo, Mo., where they spent four years, later returning to Fortuna to make their home.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph, and a sister, Mrs. John Garber.

She is survived by her husband and six children; a sister, Mrs. Chris Hofstetter; eleven grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.

The honorary pallbearers were Ross, Jimmy, Wallace, Sam Ed, Wayne, and Harvey Ed Lehman, all grandsons. The pallbearers were Waldo Hofstetter, Harold Moser, Daniel Garber, Victor Hofstetter, Ira Garber and Ivan Hofstetter. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Aubray Aeschbacher, Mrs. Ruth Ferguson, Clarice Graber, Blanche Aeschbacher, Mrs. June Stevens, Mrs. Milton Henry and Mrs. Finis French.
