MRS. DIETRICH G. BARKMAN

Elizabeth Priebe Barkman was born at Hillsboro, Kansas on March 25, 1888 and passed away January 12 at Herbert, Sask at the age of 83. It was at Hillsboro that she acquired her education and also here that she accepted the Lord as her Saviour. In the year of her conversion, 1903, she was also baptized and joined the Krimmer Mennonite Brethren Church at Gnadenau, near Hillsboro. In 1906 she married Dietrich G. Barkman, a union which was blessed with nine children, four daughters and five sons. Shortly after their marriage, they emigrated to Canada and settled in Flowing Well, Sask., where they joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. They spent all of their working years at Flowing Well and in 1947 retired to Herbert, Sask.

In 1957 her husband passed on to be with the Lord, after they had been graciously allowed to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. In 1963 she retired to the Herbert Senior Citizens Home. A special blessing to her was the knowledge that all her children were following the Lord she loved. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Selma, and one son, Benjamin. She is mourned by three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Helen) Siemens, Swift Current, Mrs. A. (Anna) Loeppky, Clearbrook, B.C., Mrs. Henry (Ella) Siemens, Main Centre, Sask.; and four sons, Albert, Flowing Well, Menno, Saskatoon, Edwin, California, and Leo, Winnipeg; 23 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

The funeral was conducted ·from the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church on January 16 with the brethren J. Pauls, N. Janz, L. Barkman and W. Thiessen ministering.
