JOHN DAVID FROESE
A resident of Sardis, B.C., John David Froese, 65, passed away at Chilliwack General Hospital on November 29. He was born in Russia on December 1, 1905, where he also spent his youth. He was married there in 1928 and in the following year he and his wife left Russia for Canada. They settled first in Aberdeen Sask., and four years later moved to British Columbia, to the Sardis area. He came to faith in Christ in January, 1947 and in the same year, in June, was baptized and received into the Greendale Mennonite Brethren Church. It was a joy for him to serve as an usher in the church for 22 years. He enjoyed the fellowship in the church and frequently joined in public prayer.
His marriage was blessed with five children, one daughter and four sons, all of whom survive their father. Several months of illness ended on November 29. He took comfort from the promises of the Word of God during the weeks of dwindling strength.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; one daughter, Mrs. Pat (Charlotte) Fischer, and her husband of Ontario; four sons, Dave and his wife Linda, Elmer and his wife Margaret, of Greendale, Edgar and his wife Honey, and Ben and his wife Pamela, of Vancouver; seven grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Abe Froese, of Ontario; and two sisters, Miss Agnes Froese, of Vancouver, and (Mrs.) Elizabeth Siemens, of the Soviet Union.
The funeral was conducted, December 3 in the Greendale (B.C.) Church with Pastor Harry Heidebrecht and Rev. Henry Dueck ministering.
