ABRAM ISAAC THIESSEN
On October 30, Abraham Isaac Thiessen of Port Rowan, Ontario, passed away in the Norfolk General Hospital. He was born in Gnadenheim, South Russia on August 18, 1886. His childhood and youth were also spent there. On October 23, 1909, he was married to Maria Thiessen, and two years later,in 1921, he was baptized and received into the Rueckenau Mennonite Brethren Church.
The difficult years following the revolution led the family to emigrate to Canada in 1926. They lived in New Hamburg, Ontario, for two years and then moved to Port Rowan where they had lived since. The Lord blessed their union with four sons and two daughters. One son predeceased his parents in his childhood. The Lord gave them the privilege to celebrate their silver, golden and even diamond wedding anniversary.
On December 1, 1970, his wife went to be with the Lord, and 11 months later, his own hour of release came. He was 85 years old. He is survived by three sons, Isaac, Abram and Peter; their wives; two daughters, Maria and Anna; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral was observed from the Port Rowan Church on November 1, with Rev. Jacob Penner Jr. and Rev. Abram Block ministering.
