MRS. ANNA REGIER
Anna Janzen Regier was born July 26, 1871 in West Prussia, Germany to Johann and Maria Dyck Janzen. When she was eight years old her parents came to America with the family and settled in Fairmount Township, later moving to Brainard, Kan.
The Christian convictions and nurture of her parents caused her to realize her need of a Saviour, and upon the confession of her faith she was baptized on May 22, 1888 by Rev. Leonard Suderman and received into the Emmaus Mennonite church. She served as one of the first teachers when the Sunday school was started in the church.
In young womanhood she was privileged to care for her aging parents as well as often helping in the homes of her older brothers and sisters. As her occupation she took up dressmaking.
On May 7, 1908 she was united in marriage to John L. Regier. They made their home on a farm one-half mile south of Elbing. At this time she transferred her membership to the Zion Mennonite Church. Two children were born to this union, and later the home was opened to the foster children. She showed a genuine love and concern for her family.
Her life was saddened when father suddenly went to be with the Lord in October 1952.
As her age advanced, Mrs. Anna Friesen came to live with her and gave her loving and tender care for six years.
In August she was hospitalized due to multiple fractures, and upon release she entered the Bethel Home for Aged where she spent the last two months of her life. She quietly passed on to be with the Lord on the evening of Nov. 21, 1966, having reached the age of 95 years.
She leaves to mourn her departure two daughters, Frieda and husband John Busenitz, and Ellen and husband Raymond Unruh; one son Willard Regier and wife Elma; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One son, Elmer Roberts, one daughter-in-law, Olga Regier, and one grandson, Wesley Busenitz, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 25 at the Zion Mennonite Church, Elbing, by Rev. Harold Graber. Interment was made in the church cemetery.—The Family.
