JOHN PETKAU

John Petkau of Herbert. Saskatchewan passed away on July 8 in the Swift Current Union Hospital.

He was born on December 4, 1907 in Russia and emigrated to Canada in 1926. On March 12, 1931, he was united in marriage with Maria Klassen. After working in the Herbert area for a while, he moved to a farm in 1933. from which he retired in 1968. He had accepted the Lord as his Saviour at the age of 20, and was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church at Turnhill, Saskatchewan.

Rev. Herman Voth officiated at the funeral which took place on July 10 in the Herbert (Sask.) Church. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mary; four sons, Ben of Calgary, John of Yorkton, Sask., Henry of Herbert. Nick of Brooks, Alta,; five daughters. Susie (Mrs. Henry Loewen), Mary (Mrs. Russel Vasselin), Adena (Mrs. Hugh Pierson), all of Brooks, Alta., Irene (Mrs. Harvey Knodel) of Golden Prairie, Sask,. Leona (Mrs. John Hatton) of Calgary; 18 grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters.
