MAGGIE BIRKY KAUFFMANN
Maggie Kauffmann was born to John C. and Magdalena (Zimmer) Birky in Decatur County, Kansas on July 22, 1887. She passed away at Hopedale, Ill. on Feb. 22, 1965 after an illness of eight weeks.
She was married Jan. 1, 1908 to Aaron Kauffmann. Those who cherish fond memories are her husband and children: Pearl of Normal, Ill., Mrs. Erma Hanks of Utica, Kan., Gladys of Chicago, Ill., Melvin of Miner, Ill., Mrs. Dorothy Miller of Dearborn Heights, Mich., Russell of Glenview, Ill., and Dale of Grand Forks, N. D.
Twelve grandchildren, five brothers, two sisters and three step-brothers will remember her and her Christian influence. Her many other friends and relatives will recall the generosity and warm hospitality of her home. She was a member of the New Castle Bible Church near Mackinaw, Ill.
Committal services were held at the Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery Thursday, Feb. 25. Memorial services were held Friday, Feb. 26, at the Hopedale Church in charge of her pastor, Rev. Robert Zehr, and her nephew Rev. Ivan j. Kauffmann, pastor of the Hopedale Mennonite Church.
