Anna Epp, nee Pauls, daughter of Peter and Anna (Abrams) Pauls, was born in Hahns-Au, Russia, on Sept. 15, 1868. She received her education in Hahns-Au from Herman Bartch. | |||
Upon the confession of her faith, she was baptized on April 14, 1886, in the Mennonite church of Ak-Metschet, Khiva. | |||
On Sept. 23, 1889, she was united in marriage to Claas Epp in Ak-Metschet Khiva. He and the two oldest sons preceded her in death. | |||
After a few years in Khiva the parents decided to make their home in the United States. On Jan. 2, 1892, they were received by loving friends at Beatrice, Nebr. They made their first home on a farm west of Beatrice. Fifty-two years of married life were spent in various homes in Jefferson and Gage counties. | |||
On Feb. 14 she suffered a heart attack and had been critically ill since then. She received great comfort from favorite Bible verses and songs. On Monday, Feb. 28, at 3:30 a. m. she passed on peacefully to be with her Saviour, reaching the age of 80 years, five months and 13 days. | |||
She is mourned by four sons, five daughters, four daughters-in-law, three sons-in-law, 26 grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and one sister. | |||
A thought she cherished was based on the German of I Corinthians 2:9 "Das kein Auge gesehen und kein Ohr gehoeret hat, und in keines Menschen Herz gekommen ist das Gott bereitet hat denen, die ihn lieben. | |||
