— Mrs. Mary Matthies, 62, wife of George Matthies, died Saturday night, April 2, at the Halstead hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Mennonite church of Halstead, Rev. Roland Goering in charge. A long-time resident of Halstead, Mrs. Matthies had lived in Newton since last December. Surviving in ad-[line missing in original] Lester of Wichita; two daughters, [line duplicated in original] Mrs. Otis Unruh and Mrs. Willard Janzen of Newton; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dick of Halstead; three brothers, three sisters and four grandchildren. | |||
