&bull;  John P. Ewy, 74, owner of the Halstead Hotel, died unexpectedly at the hotel last Sunday.  Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Halstead First Mennonite Church, with Rev. Arnold E. Funk in charge.  A native of Hanston, Kan., Mr. Ewy at one time lived at Perry, Okla. moving to the Halstead community 43 years ago.  He retired from farming in 1957 and purchased the hotel.  Survivors include the widow, Minnie, four daughters, two sons, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three sisters and four brothers.
