● Julius Rutschman, 81, a native of Zurich, Switzerland and resident of the Whitewater and Newton communities since 1911, died Jan. 18 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. He was a member of the Swiss Mennonite Church at Whitewater, where the funeral was conducted Friday afternoon by Rev. Arnold Ensz. Mr. Rutschman farmed in the Whitewater area for many years. He leaves his widow, Martha, of the home in Newton; sons Alvin of Wichita and Marvin of El Dorado; seven daughters, Mrs. Francis Miller of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mrs. Bill Early of Canon City, Colo., Mrs. Gene Lettau, Mrs. Ronald Grapengater and Mrs. Elmer Unruh, all of Newton, Mrs. Bob Schenewerk of Wichita, and Mrs. Glennon Decker of Arvada, Colo.; one brother Jacob of Zurich; 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
