Altona,Manitoba. — Funeral services for Mrs. J. D. Klassen, one of the few surviving Mennonite pioneers of the Rosenfeld and Altona districts, were held at the Bergthaler church here Dec. 6. She died at her home in Altona at the age of 92. | |||
A native of Schoenthal, South Russia, where she was born Dec. 6, 1864, she came to Canada at the age of 11. She lived on a farm west of Rosenfeld for 60 years, moving to Altona in 1952. | |||
Her large family of survivors includes nine children, 37 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. | |||
