Funeral services took place Sept. 25 at the First Mennonite Church, Newton, for Gerhard P. Nickel, a retired farmer who died Sept. 22 at the age of 91. Floyd Bartel and Lubin Jantzen officiated. He was a resident of Kansas Christian Home. Nickel married Elizabeth Regier, who survives along with four sons, Eddie of Shawnee mission, Bernie of Winfield, Walter of Fullerton, Calif., and Gary of Independence; two daughter , Martha Hiebert of Newton and Arlene Ross of Newton; a brother, Cornel of Corn, Okla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Ediger of Hutchinson and Martha Unruh of Buhler; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. |
