Heart Attack Fatal To Amish Bishop
Nappanee, Ind. — A heart attack suffered at his home near here Jan. 1 claimed the life of Joe C. Kauffman, 68, a bishop in the Amish church.
A native of Middlefield, Ohio, he was a cabinetmaker and retired farmer. His wife, Lena, died last September.
The large family of survivors includes seven daughters, five sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the family home on Jan. 3, with Bishop Henry Miller and Walter Helmuth in charge.
