Steinbach, Man. &#8212; A ride by a father-and-son team on a bicycle-built-for-two proved fatal for the older man when the bike was hit by a car on Highway 12 Wednesday evening, Apr. 9.
 
John P. Plett, 66, of Steinbach and James Plett, 31, were making a left turn to cross into a driveway when their bike was hit by a north-bound automobile driven by George Boutilier of Winnipeg.  Mr. Plett died some 40 minutes later at St. Boniface General Hospital.
 
James, admitted to the intensive care section at the some hospital, was listed in fair condition.

BIKE-CAR CRASH KILLS CYCLIST

Steinbach, Man. — A ride by a father-and-son team on a bicycle-built-for-two proved fatal for the older man when the bike was hit by a car on Highway 12 Wednesday evening, Apr. 9.

John P. Plett, 66, of Steinbach and James Plett, 31, were making a left turn to cross into a driveway when their bike was hit by a north-bound automobile driven by George Boutilier of Winnipeg. Mr. Plett died some 40 minutes later at St. Boniface General Hospital.
