Mrs. Ruth passed away on the previous Monday after a lingering illness. Among those from Newton who attended the service were Rev. and Mrs. C. A. van der Smissen from the Bethel Home for Aged. Rev. van der Smissen gave a short sermon in the German langauge, while Rev. Unruh of Halstead delivered the English sermon. Mrs. Ruth was a sister-in-law of Mrs. van der Smissen. |

— Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Ruth of Halstead, who passed away last week, were held at the Halstead Mennonite church at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Mrs. Ruth passed away on the previous Monday after a lingering illness. Among those from Newton who attended the service were Rev. and Mrs. C. A. van der Smissen from the Bethel Home for Aged. Rev. van der Smissen gave a short sermon in the German langauge, while Rev. Unruh of Halstead delivered the English sermon. Mrs. Ruth was a sister-in-law of Mrs. van der Smissen.
