•  Funeral services for 91-year-old Jacob C. Hodel of Hillsboro were conducted Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.  Mr. Hodel was one of the pioneer settlers in the Gnadenau community, coming from South Russia in 1886.  He died Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Salem Hospital.  Survivors include five sons and two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A son, Chris, resides in Newton.
