MANITOBA PIONEER DIED AT AGE 85, LEAVES 122 DESCENDANTS
Altona, Manitoba. — Another of southern Manitoba’s early-day settlers was called away in death recently with the passing of John F. Giesbrecht, 85, at the Altona hospital. Funeral services were held at the Altona Bergthaler church.
Born in South Russia Sept. 15, 1867, he came to Canada at the age of eight and farmed most of his life. He leaves 122 descendants, including 10 children, 60 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
