Peter A. "Pete" Schmidt, son of B. P. and Eva Goertz Schmidt, was born at Cordell, Okla. on May 18, 1899 and died at Weatherford, Okla. on April 19, 1974 at the age of 74.
 
In his teen years he accepted Jesus as Savior, and was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church on July 6, 1918.
 
Mr. Schmidt grew to manhood in the Cordell area.  He was married to Susanna Penner in the M. B. Church near Bessie, Okla. on April 24, 1921.  They farmed near Cordell for a number of years, moving to a farm southwest of Weatherford in 1923.  They retired from farming in 1955 and moved to Weatherford.
 
He suffered a stroke on Oct. 26, 1973 and had been confined to a nursing home since Dec. 23, 1973.
 
He was a member of the Pine Acres Mennonite Brethren Church of Weatherford.  He will be missed by the church where he labored, being on the building committee which erected this place of worship.  He will be remembered by his devotion to his Lord and the Word of God.
 
He is survived by his wife of the home; five sons, Ruben of Fresno, Calif., Ervin of Clinton, Okla., Herbert of Denver, Colo., Leroy of Weatherford, Okla., and Chester of Elk City, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rudolph of Bessie, Okla. and Andrew of Corn, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. D. L. Fink of Reedley, Calif., Mrs. John H. Martin of Corn, Okla., and Mrs. Pete Schmidt of St. Joe, Ark.

PETER A. SCHMIDT
