Missionary Nurse Dies in Costa Rica
Middlefield, Ohio. — Funeral services were held at the Maple View Conservative Mennonite Church here on May 2 for Kathryn Schlabach, 28, who died in Costa Rica where she had been serving as a practical nurse under the Conservative Mennonite board.
After a week of mild illness at Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean coast where she was stationed, she suddenly became acutely ill and was taken by chartered plane to a hospital in San Jose. Death was attributed to blood poisoning and pneumonia.
Miss Schlabach was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Schlabach of this place and a graduate of the Timken Mercy School of Practical Nursing. She left for Costa Rica on Jan. 1 of this year.
