• Funeral services were held in Topeka on Jan. 7 for Stephen Franzen, 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin G. Franzen of that city who was fatally injured in a highway crash on Sunday, Jan. 5. The young man, a freshman at the University of Kansas, was driving west of Topeka when the car struck a concrete pillar under Interstate 70. A companion, 19-year-old Kerry Martin, was seriously injured. Stephen was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Franzen of the Goessel community. | |||
