•  Funeral services were held at the Emmaus Church near Whitewater last Friday afternoon for Mrs. Lydia Thiessen, 73, who died Aug 2 at Osawatomie, Kan.  Rev. L. R. Amstutz and Rev. Willard Schrag officiated.  Mrs. Thiessen was the widow of Rev. Henry Thiessen, former minister of the Emmaus Church who died in 1953.  After his death she moved to Independence, Kan. to be with her children.  She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Fredonia.  Survivors include two daughters and five sons and their families, two brothers and two sisters.
