* Alvin J. Thiessen, 58, of rural Peabody died Feb. 6 in Wichita. Services were held Feb. 10 at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, rural Goessel, with Orlando Waltner and C. Nevin Miller in charge. Thiessen was married in 1949 to the former Eva Schmidt and they settled in their rural Peabody residence shortly thereafter. He was a factory worker for Excel Industries at Hesston. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Deloris of the home and Laura (Mrs. Alan) Pegorsch of Winfield; four brothers, David of Meade, Pete of McPherson, Jake of Inman and John of Houston, Tex.; seven sisters, Martha (Mrs. Ike) Harms of Meade, Lydia (Mrs. Russell) Cunningham of Hutchinson, Elizabeth (Mrs. Elmer) Franz of Inman, Anna (Mrs. Ed) Leitner of Selden, Sara (Mrs. Roland) Froese and Bertha (Mrs. Bob) Janzen, both of Buhler, and Ruth (Mrs. Leland) Schmidt of San Mateo, Calif.; and one grandson. | |||

He moved with his parents to Meade, Kan. as a boy. On May 8, 1949 he married Eva Schmidt at Goessel, Kan. They lived for a short time near Goessel, then moved to their current residence in rural Peabody. | |||
He was formerly employed at Excel Industries in Hesston. | |||
Funeral services were conducted at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Feb. 10 with Orlando Waltner and C. Nevin Miller officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. | |||
