&bull;  Walter K. Ewert, 47, assistant manager of the Newell Oil Co. here, died at Bethel Deaconess Hospital on Monday after a three-month illness.  Formerly of the Elbing community, he had lived in Newton for the past three years.  He was a member of the Elbing Missionary Church.  Survivors include his wife, Marion, daughters Carolyn Sue of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Betty Jane of Wichita, as well as one daughter and three sons of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Rudy Lichty of Saigon, Vietnam and Mrs. George Klassen of Buhler; and one brother, Irvin H. of Reedley, Calif.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church in Newton.
