Freeman, S. D. &#8212; Fifteen-year-old Joshua J. Waldner of the Glendale Hutterite Colony in Spink County fell through the ice on the James River and drowned Saturday, Nov. 25.
 
The Spink County sheriff reported that the youth was attempting to cross the river on the ice when he broke through.  Dragging operations were begun, and the body was recovered three hours later.

Hutterite Boy Falls Through Ice, Drowns

Freeman, S. D. — Fifteen-year-old Joshua J. Waldner of the Glendale Hutterite Colony in Spink County fell through the ice on the James River and drowned Saturday, Nov. 25.

The Spink County sheriff reported that the youth was attempting to cross the river on the ice when he broke through. Dragging operations were begun, and the body was recovered three hours later.
