Mexico Boy Killed, Dragged by Horse
BECAME ENTANGLED IN ROPE WHILE LEADING HORSE TO WATER
Cuauhtemoc, Mexico. — Heinrich Bergen, 12-year-old son of Johann Bergens of the Quellen Colony, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the colony hospital as result of severe internal and external injuries which he suffered when he was dragged for about a quarter mile by a horse.
The boy was leading the horse to water when his hand in some way got entangled in the rope and the normally gentle animal became frightened, dragging him to his death over rough ground, rocks and through brush.
Burial was on Thursday, Jan. 23. Parents of the Bergens, and grandparents of the boy, live at Ft. Vermillion, Alberta.
