Katie Heidebrecht died Oct. 14. She was born May 14, 1914 in Orechow, Russia to Abraham and Anna Martens. Katie's mother died in 1920 and her father married Agnes Hubert in 1921. The family immigrated to Canada in 1926, making their home in Crowfoot, Alta. At 16, Katie went to work as a cook on a ranch, and later as a housekeeper in Calgary.
