Kathie Bartel was born on March 3, 1891, at Jansen, Neb. to John and Maria Barkman Bartel.  She moved to Meade, Kan. with her parents in 1907.  She lived and worked on their farm south of Meade till her move into the town of Meade in April 1970.
 
She received Christ as Savior and was baptized and received into the Mennonite Church on May 16, 1910.  Later, on April 16, 1944, she was received into the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of Meade.
 
She enjoyed sewing and was active in the Ladies Sewing Society of the church.
 
She took up  residence at the Lone Tree Lodge on Jan. 14, 1971.  She suffered a stroke on July 18, 1972.  She died at the Lone Tree Lodge on Nov. 26, 1974, having reached the age of 83.
 
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John at the age of 12, and Jacob J. and two sisters, Agatha, Mrs. John J. A. Harder, and Marie, Mrs. Jacob R. Classen.
 
She is survived by two brothers, John B. and Peter B. Bartel, both of Meade; two sisters, Agnes, Mrs. Abe L. Classen, and Anna Bartel, both of Meade; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Jacob J. Bartel of Meade. &#8212; The Family.

KATHIE BARTEL
