HELEN DERKSEN
Helen Derksen died Dec. 17. She was born Apr. 16, 1917 in Omsk, Russia. In 1924 she moved to Mexico and in 1927 to Carol, Man. She married Henry Derksen Sept. 23, 1947. They served in Congo with MBMS International from 1950 to 1978, then in Quebec until 1981, They retired in Winnipeg and joined Elmwood MB Church. Hardships, moves, evacuations and losses in Congo were received with calm grace. She found strength in Isa. 26:3. She was hospitable, a good listener and teacher to children and women in Congo, and women's groups and neighbours in Winnipeg . Predeceased by Henry and 1 grandson, she is mourned by sons John, Paul and Gerry; daughter Viola; 7 grandchildren; 1 sister. The funeral was Dec. 22 in Elmwood MB Church.
