Walter Boldt was born Aug. 28, 1927 to Bernard and Margarete Boldt in Plum Coulee, Man. The family lived in Kitchener, Ont. Walter worked on local farms following grade 8 to help the family survive. In 1943 they moved to Chilliwack and then to Vancouver. They attended 43rd Ave. MB Church. He went to night school to achieve senior matric standing, then studied in Tabor College, Kan., coming back to Vancouver because of the Korean War. He went to University of British Columbia, then taught math and science in secondary schools in Trail and North Vancouver. He began teaching at UBC in 1960, becoming department head. He married Alvina Peters Aug. 26, 1950. His home was his delight, spending time with Alvina and their children. They camped and travelled. He took his children to his labs on Saturday mornings to observe the animals, equipment and computers. He was involved in church music, church council and sang in a radio quartet. They retired to Abbotsford and he taught at Trinity Western University, Langley. He completed a genealogy of the Boldt and Peters families. He loved the great hymns of the faith, claiming "My faith has found a resting place" as his song of testimony. He is mourned by Alvina; son James and Andrew; daughter Kelly, siblings.
