SAMUEL SHIER

Samuel Shier died Aug. 13. He was born May 16, 1915 in Winnipeg to Adam and Amelia Shier. He was baptized upon his confession of faith in 1939, joining Northend (now Elm- wood) MB Church. He sang in the choir and ushered. He worked for C.A.DeFehr for many years, then for Gulf Oil until his retirement at 63. He married Irma Harder in 1940. They spent time with their family at their Falcon Lake cottage. He loved fishing and hunting with his sons. He also grew beautiful flowers, growing up to 200 varieties of gladioli. After Irma died in 1997, he lived in Bethania Personal Care Home. Predeceased by Irma, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, he is mourned by sons Richard and Carl of Winnipeg, Vern of Edmonton; daughter Rita Boese, Arizona; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; 1 sister. The funeral was Aug. 18 in Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Winnipeg.
