JOHN PETER MARTENS
John Peter Martens died June 30. He was born Mar. 2, 1911 in Alexanderwohl, Molotschna, Ukraine to Peter P. and Helena Martens. In 1925 they immigrated to Coaldale, Alta. At 19 he was converted through a message by missionary Frank Wiens. He was baptized in 1930. He attended Bible school. He was briefly in a CO camp. He married Sara Klassen in 1946. They lived in Arnold, B.C. He farmed and trucked. She died in 1971. He married Emilie Bartel Sommerfeld in 1971. They moved to Clearbrook, B.C in 1973. He sang in the choir and did deacon work in the Clearbrook MB Church. They enjoyed travelling. Predeceased by Sara, daughter Mary Simpson, 4 siblings, he leaves Emilie; daughters Viola Klassen, Beverly Schroeder, Trudy Janzen; 9 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; 2 sisters; 1 brother. The service was July 5 in Clearbrook MB Church.
