EMMA FRANCIS [sic FRANCES] VOTH
Emma Francis {sic Frances] Flickinger Voth was born on May 17 1895 at Pretty Prairie, Kan. to Jacob and Francis Sutter Flickinger.
When she was five years old the family moved to a farm in Kingman County near Murdock, Kan., along the Ninnescah River. Upon confession of her faith she was baptized by Rev. C. J. Voran and received into Bethany Mennonite Church near Kingman on July 28, 1912.
On Nov. 2, 1919 she was married to George c. Voth. They made their home at Elyria, Kan. from 1919 on and attended the Hopefield Mennonite Church. Three children were born to this union: Ruby, George Junior, and Vera. Her loving ways in the midst of trying and difficult situations, along with her sweet nature and gracious manner were rewarded with countless friendships which were a source of inspiration and enrichment throughout her years. During the years in Elyria her husband died (Jan. 15, 1935) and later her youngest daughter, Vera (Nov. 26, 1944).
In 1945 she moved to Hutchinson, Kan. She transferred her membership to the First Mennonite Church of Hutchinson and served as a faithful member to her death. She enjoyed the Women's Missionary Society and often reflected upon the inspiration she had received from her Sunday school class and other church activities.
Death came on Nov. 18, 1966 in Hutchinson.
She leaves to mourn a daughter Ruby, Mrs. Harley J. Stucky, of North Newton, and son George Jr. of Garden City; three sisters, Mrs. Art Plenert of Wichita, and Miss Anne Flickinger of Hutchinson; and two brothers, Jonas D. and Eli J., both of Hutchinson; and eight grandchildren.
