MRS. AGATHA (PAULS) DIRKS

Mrs. Agatha Dirks was born Dec. 22, 1886 in McPherson County near Inman, Kan., to Henry H. and Agatha Pauls. Being the oldest daughter in the home, many added responsibilities became hers. Because of this she wasn't able to attend public school as she would have liked. However, she attended a German school for some six years.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and Redeemer in 1950, and was baptized Oct. 4, 1905, by Rev. Peter Lohrenz, joining the Hebron Mennonite Church of Buhler, Kan.

On April 6, 1911 she was married to Abe M. Dirks at the home of her parents by Rev. A. M. Martens. In 1297 [sic] mother and father transferred their membership to the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. They became members of the Koerner Heights Gospel M. B. Church of Newton in April 1959. Here she remained a faithful member until her death.

Those of her family who will miss her presence here in this life are her husband, of Hesston; one son, Edward P. Dirks, Burrton; three daughters, Mrs. Pete (Elma) Hiebert, Peabody, Mrs. Henry [text skips to final paragraph in original]

Her interests in life focused on her family and the church. In spite of being hard of hearing, she took part in public services and activities of the church as much as possible.

After a short period of illness and hospital confinement, mother passed away in the Bethel Deaconess Hospital, Newton, Kan., on Sept. 14, 1966.

Those who preceded her in death were a son, Elmer; four brothers, Rev. H. B. Pauls, P. H. Pauls, David Pauls and Jacob H. Pauls; two sisters, Mrs. John W. (Elizabeth) Kroeker and Mrs. Pete W. (Marie) Thiessen.

(Marie) Loepp, Hesston, and Mrs. Levi (Linda) Friesen, of Newton; two brothers, John E. Pauls, Inman, and George E. Pauls, Reedley, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. P. W. (Katherina) Kroeker, Hutchinson, and Mrs. Floyd (Justina) Canada of Denver, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. — The A. M. Dirks Family.
