MRS. KATHARINA WIENS

Katharina Wiens of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away on October 22. She was born on July 4, 1882 to Jacob and Katharina Peters in Gnadenheim, southern Russia. In 1903 the family moved to Isel-Kul, Siberia and settled down in Putschkov; she married John Wiens on June 19, 1905; they eventually settled near Friedensruh. Ten children were born to them, five of whom died in infancy or early childhood. The couple found the Lord on March 23,1923. In spring 1927 the family immigrated to Coaldale, Alta., they were baptized and joined the Coaldale MB Church on July 7, 1929; in 1940 they moved to Yarrow, B.C.; Mr. Wiens died in December 1943; she moved to Clearbrook in December 1978. She is survived by three sons: John of Clear brook, Jacob and wife Rita and Henry and wife Sara of Yarrow; two daughters: Mary of Clearbrook and Elizabeth and husband Jacob Quapp of Yarrow; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters. The funeral was held in the Yarrow MB Church on October 25 with pastor A.L. Klassen and P.C. Penner officiating.
