HENRY ENS PAULS
Henry Ens Pauls of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away Aug. 11 . He was born Feb. 23, 1919 to Heinrich and Liese Ens in Burwalde, Russia. His father died in 1920 of typhus. His mother married Cornelius Pauls. In 1926 the family immigrated to La Salle, Man. At 14, he accepted Christ. In 1941 he was baptized, joining Steinbach (Man.) MB Church. After his step-father died due to a train accident in 1938, Henry took responsibility for his mother and bought a farm in Steinbach. In 1940 his mother married David K. Froese. Henry married Betty Unger Nov. 9, 1941. He loved farming and was a person of the land. His beginning years were difficult, but with hard work his land produced and his dairy herds improved, They later moved to Yarrow, B.C. In 1960 they moved to Rosedale, B,C. Because of health, they moved to a smaller farm in Chilliwack, B.C. in 1967. In 1992 they retired to Abbotsford. He was a committed church member and always made time for the family to attend church. Farming was second to being in church. He was an usher for 30 years. He and Betty were deacons 1976-93. In retirement, he enjoyed playing in the harmonica section of the seniors orchestra. Even when his eyesight failed, he remained strong in his faith and praised God for his many blessings. He is mourned by Betty; children Henry, Judy Kropp, Lillian Thielmann and Dorothy Wiens; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Aug. 18 in Clearbrook MB Church, Abbotsford, with Peter J. Klassen ministering.
