ISAAC GEORGE JANZEN

Isaac Janzen of Abbotsford, B.C. was taken home to be with the Lord on August 5 after a short illness. He was born to George and Helena Janzen on September 14, 1906 in Danilowka, Crimea, Russia. At the age of 17 he immigrated to Canada with his two brothers and widowed mother, and the family settled on a farm in the Coaldale area. Mr. Janzen accepted Christ as his Saviour and Lord when he was 19 years old, and was baptized the following summer. He attended Bible school in Coaldale, Alta. and in Winkler, Man. He married Tina Dick in 1936, and the Lord blessed this union of 42 years with six children. Mr. Janzen was ordained in the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church and commenced his ministry in that church and to a group in the Readymade, Alta. area.

After moving with his family to South Abbotsford in 1944, Mr. Janzen carried on an active church ministry for another 25 years before his retirement. His greatest love was teaching in the German school and the Bible class. In Mr. Janzen's Bible, Habakkuk 3: 18 and 19 are underlined for special meaning: "I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be happy in the God of my salvation. the Lord is my strength, and he will give me the speed of a deer and bring me safely over the mountains."

Mr. Janzen leaves to celebrate his home going his wife, son Ed and wife Luelle, son Victor and wife Trudy, son John and wife Ingelore, daughter Eleanore and husband Larry Scott, and daughter Mathilda and husband Roland Enarson.
