RUSSELL WILLIAM EDWARD STOBBE

Russell William Edward Stobbe of Winnipeg passed away peacefully on July 6, following a lengthy illness. He was eight years old.

When born on July 15, 1969, he was a healthy and normal boy. In 1975, the year he entered grade one, he became ill with lymphosarcoma. A month in a Vancouver hospital, while his father was on sabbatical at the University of British Columbia was followed by further chemo therapy treatments in Winnipeg. Russell was a cheerful and optimistic patient, accepting his treatments without hostility, and led a fairly normal life, enjoying school, Boy's Brigade and Sunday school at the Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church.

On Thursday evening, July 6, after saying, "I want to go home now," he passed away. Funeral services were conducted in the Fort Garry MB Church, with Rev. Jake and Agnes Schmidt officiating.

Left to mourn are his parents, Elmer and Wilma; his younger brother and best friend, Colin and sister Sandra; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wiebe of Abbotsford, B.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stobbe of Abbotsford; his uncles, aunts and cousins; and many friends.
