PETE UNGER

Pete Unger of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away June 16. He was born Apr. 14, 1921 to Henry and Elizabeth Unger in Slavgorod, Russia. When he was 4, the family immigrated to Ontario, later moving to Holmfield, Man. and Steinbach, Man. He accepted the Lord at 14. At 16 he was baptized and joined Holmfield MB Church. He met Irma Siemens in Yarrow, B.C. They were married Aug. 22, 1943. He farmed for a number of years, then went into construction, retiring in 1976. Then they traveled, spending their winters in Arizona and summers fishing and camping with their children and grandchildren. He damaged his knee in a fall 14 years ago, resulting in numerous operations. He suffered a major heart attack in 1980 and prayed for one more year. He was a member of Central Heights MB Church for 36 years, serving as an usher and on the food committee. He is mourned by his wife; son Jim of Abbotsford; daughters Genevieve of Alberta and Dolores of New Westminster, B.C.; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 1 brother and 3 sisters. The funeral was June 21 in Central Heights MB Church, with Al McVety ministering.
