JOHN EDWIN BUEHLER
John Buehler was born to John and Sara (Lepp) Buehler on March 8, 1900 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. That same year the family moved to Dalmeny, Saskatchewan, where, in his teens. he accepted Christ as his Saviour, was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. While attending high school at Rosthern Christian Academy he met Catherine Froese, whom he married in 1923.
After completing teacher's training he taught in Saskatchewan from 1924 to 1941. The Buehlers then moved to the Abbotsford, B.C. area. He farmed for a while, but carpentry later became his main occupation. Mr. Buehler became a charter member of the East Aldergrove Mennonite Brethren Church. He loved the outdoors and his interests included working with rocks, various crafts, travel and photography. While sharing these interests he made many friends. After a brief hospital stay, he passed away into the presence of the Lord on September 14 without apparent suffering. The Buehler children and grandchildren will especially miss his prayers, his hospitality and the books and things he shared so freely with them.
Mr. Buehler was predeceased by his infant daughter, Sylvia, in 1939 and by his wife Catherine in 1968. He leaves to mourn his sons, Leslie and his wife Verna in India; Calvin and his wife Tillie of North Delta, B.C.; daughter Vivian (Mrs. Jonah) Friesen of Richmond; nine grandchildren; four brothers; six sisters; and many relatives and friend.
