DAVID JACOB BOSCHMANN

David J. Boschmann was born May 30, 1897 in Rosenort, Molotschna colony, in the Ukraine, to Jacob and Anna (Ediger) Boschmann. He was able to get a good education and enjoyed his vocation as a teacher in Russia. In his youth he committed his life to Christ, was baptized and became a member of the Lichtfelde Allianz Church. In May, 1922, he was married to Anna Derksen of Rueckenau with whom he shared joys and sorrows for 54 years.

They came to Rosthern, Sask., with two daughters in November, 1926, but soon moved to a farm at Whitewater, Man. In 1932 they relocated to Leamington, Ont., where David gained a knowledge as engineer for heating systems in greenhouses and factories. In 1941, the family moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake. He was employed for 22 years as stationary engineer for Welch's Grapes of St. Catharines. Mr. Boschmann was founding secretary of Eden Christian College at its beginning.

For a number of years he faithfully cared for his wife after she became helpless because of a stroke. His death followed his wife's by only six weeks. The Lord released him from his suffering on August 1. The funeral was at the Virgil (Ont.) Mennonite Brethren Church with Abe Quiring and D. J. Klassen officiating.

He leaves to mourn, three daughters: Lillian in Toronto, Alice (Mrs. Jacob) Dueck of Virgil, and Eleanore (Mrs. Abe) Epp Jr. of Niagara-on-the-Lake; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A fourth great grandchild was born on the day of his funeral in Johannesburg, South Africa.
