Long Time Resident Of Cordell, Okla. Dies

Corn, Okla. — Mrs. Ben Reimer, 63, a native of the Cordell community and resident of that area most of her life, died Aug. 20 at the Cordell Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Reimer, the former Frieda Jantzen, was born to Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Jantzen on a farm near Cordell. Except for a year's residence in Oregon, she spent all of her life in the Cordell community.

Funeral services were held at the Harold [sic Herold] Mennonite church, of which she was a long time member. Rev. Richard Tschetter, the pastor, officiated.

MRS. BEN REIMER

Frieda Jantzen Reimer was born Sept. 17, 1897 to Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Jantzen on a farm five miles southeast of Bessie, Okla. Here she grew to womanhood. She died of a heart attack quite suddenly Sunday, Aug. 20, 1961 in Cordell Memorial Hospital.

She was united in marriage to Ben Reimer on Feb. 13, 1919. The ceremony was performed by her father. They established their home on a farm seven and one-half miles southeast Bessie where they lived until 10 years ago when when they moved to Cordell, Okla. This union was blessed with 12 children of which three died in infancy. She also gladly accepted the responsibility of raising two step-children.

A happy occasion for our family was when our parents celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary in 1959.

On June 1, 1914 upon her confession of faith she was baptized by Rev. Michael Klassen and united with the Herold Mennonite Church. In her youth she served the church as organist, choir member and Sunday school teacher. She truly enjoyed and took real interest in these activities.

Mother had a great love for music. Among her many favorite songs was the German song, "Das herrliche Land." Though her health was slowly failing the past several years, and more so in recent months, she maintained a steadfast hope of her eternal Home.

One of mother's greatest joys was being with her children and grandchildren and making trips to see those who lived far away. She often said that her only purpose on this earth was to raise her children in such a manner so that we could all meet in heaven.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant sons, four sisters and two brothers.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband; nine children, Mrs. Elda Reimer of Anchorage, Alaska, Albert of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Helen Friesen of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Viola Jackson of Portsmouth, Va., Elmer of Bandon, Oregon,Mrs. Rosella Giles of Portland, Oregon, Marvin of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Lou Donham of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Jane Beck of Oklahoma City; two step-children, Clarence of Cordell and Mrs. Nora Funk of Newton, Kan.; six sons-in-law, ten daughters-in-aw, one step son-in-law; 21 grandchildren, one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Schmidt and Mrs. H. H. Horn, both of Cordell; and a host of other relatives and many friends. — The Family.
