Kalona, Ioka [''sic'' Iowa]. &#8212; A largely attended funeral took place at the East Union Mennonite Church near here April 6 when services were held for Philip Hershberger, 18, high school senior at Hesston College who was killed in a highway crash near Walnut, Ill. on April 3.     
 
The young man and a companion, James Mininger of Goshen, Ind., also a student at Hesston, were en route from Goshen to Iowa when their car collided head-on with another vehicle.  Mininger, son of President and Mrs. Paul Mininger of Goshen College, suffered a fractured pelvis  but is recovering.     
 
Surviving the Hershberger youth are his parents, Joseph E. and Sovilla [''sic'' Savilla] (Bontrager) Hershberger; a sister, Esther, and brother, Jerry; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Menno J. S. Bontrager and Mrs. Esther Hershberger; and great grandparents, Joe E. Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Joe N. Bontrager of Shipshewana, Ind.

During the chapel hour a memorial service was held for Phil Hershberger, the high school senior from near Kalona, Iowa, who was killed in a car accident during the Easter recess.  President Smith, who attended the funeral, and Roger Glick, one of Phil's friends, spoke at the service.  Another student, James Mininger, was injured in the same accident.

Many Attend Services For Accident Victim

Kalona, Ioka [sic Iowa]. — A largely attended funeral took place at the East Union Mennonite Church near here April 6 when services were held for Philip Hershberger, 18, high school senior at Hesston College who was killed in a highway crash near Walnut, Ill. on April 3.
