— Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Becker, 78, who died March 29 at the Halstead hospital, were held Saturday afternoon at the Grace Mennonite Church near Halstead. Rev. Carl Dirks officiated. Mrs. Becker's husband, John Becker, died last year. She is survived by four sons, Danny Unruh of Galva, Menno Unruh of Canton, Mose and Freeman Unruh of Halstead; two daughters, Mrs. Otis Unruh of Galva and Mrs. Jacob Wadel of Greensburg; one brother, three sisters, seven step-sons, five step-daughters, 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

MRS. LYDIA BECKER

Mrs. Lydia (Jantz) Becker was born Jan. 18, 1883, at Lehigh, Kan. and passed away March 29, 1961, in the Halstead Hospital, reaching the age of 78 years, two months, and 11 days.

At the age of 22 years she repented of her sins and found peace with God, through Jesus Christ, and upon the confession of her faith was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on March 6, 1906, by F. C. Fricke. She remained true and faithful to the end.

June 23, 1907 she was married to Henry F. Unruh, who had five children which she loved and cared for as her own. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1926, after sharing life's joys and sorrows for 19 years. To this union were born two daughters and seven sons: Danny Unruh of Galva, Evelyn (Mrs. Jake Wadel) of Greensburg, Mose Unruh of Halstead, Menno Unruh of Canton, Manda (Mrs. Otis Unruh) of Galva, and Freeman Unruh of Halstead. Three sons, Leland, Neil, and Noel, died in infancy.

Feb. 24, 1929 she was married to John B. Becker, receiving and loving his children as her very own. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1960. During their married life they lived in Harvey County and after retiring they moved to their home in Halstead, which was her home at the time of her death.

During the last two years her health had been failing. The last six months she was in the hospital several times and was cared for by her children. During these two years her daughter, Elizabeth, was a great help and comfort to her. Three weeks ago she was again admitted to the hospital where after much suffering it pleased our Heavenly Father to relieve her of all pain and to giver her rest.

She leaves to mourn her departure seven daughters, 11 sons, 67 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, three sisters, one brother, and many relatives and friends. Four grandchildren, two sisters, and three brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. April 1, at the Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead, Kan., with Rev. Carl Dirks officiating. Burial took place in the Lone Tree cemetery at Galva.
