MRS. LENA HEIDE
Lena Heide was born to Martin and Lena Hiebert at Bergfeld, Man. on May 27, 1890. At age 13 her family moved to Grossweide, Man. At age 19 she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and on June 5, 1910 she was baptized by the late Rev. John Warkentin and accepted into the fellowship of the Mennonite Brethren Church. She taught Sunday school for many years.
In 1941 she was united in marriage with Rev. Jacob Heide, pastor of the Grossweide Mennonite Brethren Church, and was lovingly accepted as mother by his 12 children.
She had a quiet, humble spirit, her faith was unwavering and her prayers were ever for her family. In 1943 daughter Susie passed away and on June 24, 1944 her husband passed away suddenly, while at work.
Joys were turned to sorrow but the Comforter was ready to assist. Seven years later she moved to Winkler where she cared for her aged mother until her passing.
She moved into the Salem Home for the Ages, Winkler in 1966 and last February into the Personal Care Home. She passed away June 23, at the age of 85, to be with her Lord whom she had loved and served so faithfully .
She is survived by three sons: Jake, Abe and Danny; and eight daughters: Mary (Mrs. J. W.) Neufeld, Nettie (Mrs. Ed) Unrau, Sarah (Mrs. Pete) Braun, Lena (Mrs. Ernie) Hiebert, Katie, Anna (Mrs. John) Brown, Edith (Mrs. Irvin) Braun, Gladys (Mrs. Ron) Stobbe; 34 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters.
