— Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Banman, 77, a resident of the Goessel community most of her life, were held at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite church on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. P. A. Wedel, the pastor, officiated. Mrs. Banman died at Mercy hospital in Moundrige on Sunday after a brief illness, having resided at the Memorial Home for Aged, Moundridge, sincere December. Her husband, Frank J. Banman, preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons and one daughter, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.

MRS. FRANK J. BANMAN

Our mother, Anna Friesen Banman, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Voth) Friesen, was born July 6, 1881, near Canton, Kansas. She died in the Mercy Hospital at Moundridge, Kansas on Feb. 1, 1959, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 25 days.

She received her elementary education in the Springfield rural school, after which she attended the Hillsboro Parochial School for one year.

Upon the confession of her faith she was baptized on the day of Pentecost in 1899 by Elder Balzer and received into the Alexanderwohl church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

On Nov.15, 1901, she was married to Franz J. Banman. They made their home on the farm southeast of Canton, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children, four sons and one daughter. Father Banman passed away on Nov. 19, 1920. A son Peter died on Aug. 26, 1934.

Mother was a lover of nature. She enjoyed gardening and flower culture. Her greatest concern was the spiritual welfare of the children and grandchildren. Regular church and Sunday school attendance was a major factor in her life. She attended as long as her health permitted.

She resided on the farm with her children Otto and Adeline Banman until Nov. 3, 1958, when she transferred her residence to the newly constructed Memorial Home at Moundridge, where she received very tender care.

She became seriously ill on Friday, Jan. 30, and was taken to the Mercy Hospital. In spite of all that was done, her life ebbed away and she departed to be with the Lord at 1:45 a.m. Feb. 1, 1959.

She leaves to mourn her departure Jac. F. Banman and wife Marie of North Newton, Kan., John F. Banman and wife Anna of Newton, Kan. Rt. 2, Elizabeth, Mrs. Alvin J. Reimer and husband of Lindsborg, Kan., Otto and wife Adeline of Canton, Kan.; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary, Mrs. P. C. Wedel of Canton, Kan., and Sara, Mrs. Henry Koehn of Newton, Kan.; one brother, J. V. Friesen of Hillsboro, Kan. Besides those mentioned there is also a large circle of relatives and many friends who are saddened by her sudden passing.

Funeral services were conducted in the Miller Funeral Home and in the Alexanderwohl church on Wednesday Feb. 4, 1959, in charge of Rev. P. A. Wedel, assisted by Rev. W. W. Harms of the Springfield K.M.B. church.
