WILLIAM DEAN ALBRECHT

William Dean Albrecht, son of Andrew and Alma (Kaufman) Albrecht, was born April 12, 1935, in Kingman, Kansas. He had finished his grade and high school and was a freshman in college. He was baptized in the confession of his faith by Rev. Frank Loewen May 28, 1950, and received as member in the Bethany Mennonite church.

On Sunday morning Dec. 21, 1952, about 9:45 on the way home from school with his friend and companion, Rex Voran, in a dense fog, the car on which he was riding was demolished by a train, and the Lord took him from time into eternity.

He attained the age of 17 years, eight months and nine days.

He leaves his bereaved parents and sister to mourn his death.

Funeral services were held at the Bethany Mennonite church Dec. 24, 1952. Dr. Erland Waltner was in charge. He spoke on Eccl. 12:1, “Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth.” Dr. D. C. Wedel, president of Bethel College, read the obituary and gave a few remarks. Opening prayer was offered by Rev. P. P. Tschetter. Miss Marjorie Waltner sang two selections at the church, “My God and I” and “Be Still My Soul” accompanied by Miss Norma Jean Voran. A quartet composed of Ted Voran, Lelo Albrecht, Paul J. Voran and Marvin Graber sang” Just a Closer Walk With Thee” at the services in the home and “The Glory Song” at the graveside. Pall bearers were Stanley Eitzen, Dean Schrag, Donald Schrag, Clarence Buller, Floyd Butz, and Stuart Pankratz.

His parents comfort is that he had just recently told his mother that he was ready to meet his Lord. Thus they have not really lost him. He has just gone before. While they are grieving, he is rejoicing absent from the body, but present with the Lord.
